jGISTools builds on the amazing work done by the GeoTools project.
Internaly it uses a large portion of their APIs for executing the data access and rendering operations.

The jGISTools project will diferentiate itself from Geotools by focusing on the rendering aspects, speed, resource consumption
and backwards compatibility, both at source and at binary level.

The project will provide it's own optimized rendering, data access and utility classes, replacing the ones provided by Geotools when needed.
